We're pleased that you are considering visiting us at First Baptist Church of Clinton, LA! Here is some of what you can expect at one of our worship services:
Our morning service is about one hour and fifteen minutes long, from 10:45 am to 12:00 pm. People usually come a few minutes early to find their seats and to prepare for worship. If the sanctuary fills up, people can watch the service on a closed-circuit TV in the fellowship hall.
At 10:45 am, one of our pastors will stand at the pulpit, welcome everyone, and make some announcements. Then, our Senior Pastor will call the congregation to worship, reading a passage of Scripture and opening the service with a pastoral prayer.
After the pastoral prayer, another pastor will lead the congregation in singing two hymns. Then, the Senior Pastor will usually lead the congregation in reading from our confession of faith, The Second London Baptist Confession.
After one more hymn, the Senior Pastor will stand and preach the Word of God for about 40-50 minutes, finishing at around 12:00 pm. We believe the preaching of God's Word is not only a continuation of worship, but that it is at the very center of faithful Christian worship.
In some services, we also administer the biblical ordinance of baptism for those who have come to faith in the Lord Jesus. Baptism is a sign of the union between a believer and the Lord Jesus Christ. We also administer the Lord's Supper, through which Christ graciously communes with His people and nourishes their souls by His Spirit through their faith in Him.
We also warmly invite you to have lunch with us, free of charge, in our fellowship hall immediately after the morning worship service. Our church enjoys weekly fellowship during lunch as a time to catch up with one another and encourage each other in the Lord Jesus Christ. We hope you will join us.
You will find that people at First Baptist don't all dress the same for public worship. Some dress formally while others others more casually, but everyone is seeking to honor the Lord in what they wear.
We also provide child-care for children up to the age of 4, and we encourage parents to take advantage of this service.
